Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
The best restaurants in Sandy start with La Caille, an upscale French restaurant on Wasatch Boulevard that features a rotating seasonal menu and impeccable hospitality. Carvers Steaks and Seafood is another high-end eatery with a rustic, lodge-like atmosphere, while Slackwater is a laid-back spot for live music and classic bar fare and pizza.
In addition to bars like Slackwater, the city has the Hale Center Theater, a cozy venue that puts on Broadway-caliber productions and provides youth and adolescent educational programming. The Sandy Amphitheater is the other main entertainment venue in town. An open-air outdoor venue, the amphitheater hosts concerts, plays, musicals, and comedy performances against a stunning mountain backdrop.
For shopping, there are the Shops at South Town, which feature retailers. In addition to retail shops, South Town has a number of restaurants and services, from the Salt City Sweet Shop to the Sanctuary Day Spa and Salon. They also have well-known staples for their active and wilderness-oriented guests.
Things to Do
There’s no shortage of things to do in Sandy, from spending an afternoon at the Dimple Dell Recreation Center to taking part in the annual Sandy Balloon Festival. The former is a premier recreation center with swimming, fitness equipment, summer camps, art workshops, and youth sports teams. The latter is a yearly hot air balloon event centered around a 5K footrace. Residents can volunteer to take part in the early morning balloon launches, the evening glow event, or race in the 5K.
